A letter from the Artistic Director:
Hello! My name is Danielle Liccardo-Massood, Artistic Director of Inertia Productions, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) theatre company based in New York City. Founded in 1997 by myself and a small group of fellow artists, we sought to produce meaningful works which challenged and stretched the imagination of the audience and creative artists alike…to tell stories of mythical quality that would awaken the audience’s imaginations and spirits, causing them to leave the theatre with a more evolved and empathetic perspective about the human condition.
Our past credits include an OOBR Award-winning production of Keith Reddin’s “Life During Wartime” directed by Kevin Kittle (read the review) in 2001 along with several other critically acclaimed New York theatre productions. (read a review of "Watching and Waiting") In the years following several of the founding company members moved onto other creative endeavors and Inertia took a hiatus from being an independent producing company. In the summer of 2006, a new company of actors began to meet under the Inertia name for the purpose of creating original, ensemble driven pieces of theatre. Knowing that I have always wanted to continue the growth and artistic success of this company, I decided that it was time to truly resurrect Inertia Productions.
In the Fall of 2010, Inertia Productions produced a newly created work, Inertia's ‘thebcam/macbeth’. 'thebcam' is based on the ensemble’s own personal experiences and life perspectives, but inspired by the devastating fall from grace of a seemingly noble man in Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The powerful potential of language found in Macbeth is as vital and brimming with energy now as it was four centuries ago. So, this past September, Inertia wove ‘thebcam’ into ‘macbeth’. We merged the two worlds into one dynamic experience through Inertia’s unique style of performance and storytelling, and brought a visceral modern relevance to Macbeth’s sleepless dreaming. Under the guidance of Inertia’s Resident Director, Kevin Kittle, our audience felt as though they had fallen into the witches’ cauldron, providing a groundbreaking meditation on Macbeth that has yet to be attained in any other production. It was a full multi-media and theatrical production, with many exciting surprises! Stay tuned for more on this exciting production, and what we are working on next!
Sincerely,
Danielle Liccardo-Massood, Artistic Director
