Our past credits include an OOBR Award-winning production of Keith Reddin’s “Life During Wartime” directed by Kevin Kittle (read the review) in 2001 along with several other critically acclaimed New York theatre productions. (read a review of "Watching and Waiting") In the years following several of the founding company members moved onto other creative endeavors and Inertia took a hiatus from being an independent producing company. In the summer of 2006, a new company of actors began to meet under the Inertia name for the purpose of creating original, ensemble driven pieces of theatre. Knowing that I have always wanted to continue the growth and artistic success of this company, I decided that it was time to truly resurrect Inertia Productions.
Today, under my Artistic Direction, and with the help of my dear friend and Executive Director, Doug Durlacher, Inertia Productions, Inc. is back on the path to being a producing organization in New York City. In seeking to reestablish ourselves as an effective member of the community we are working to resurrect our theatre company as a financially responsible organization that fully supports all artists it employs both creatively and financially. In order to do so we will be spending the following year working to raise funds and building our organization in preparation for Inertia’s first main stage production in several years.
In the Fall of 2010, Inertia Productions will be producing a newly created work, Inertia's ‘thebcam/macbeth’. 'thebcam' is based on the ensemble’s own personal experiences and life perspectives, but inspired by the devastating fall from grace of a seemingly noble man in Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The powerful potential of language found in Macbeth is as vital and brimming with energy now as it was four centuries ago. So, this September, Inertia will weave ‘thebcam’ into ‘macbeth’. We will merge the two worlds into one dynamic experience through Inertia’s unique style of performance and storytelling, and bring a visceral modern relevance to Macbeth’s sleepless dreaming. Under the guidance of Inertia’s Resident Director, Kevin Kittle, our audience will feel as though they have fallen into the witches’ cauldron, providing a groundbreaking meditation on Macbeth that has yet to be attained in any other production. It will be a full multi-media and theatrical production, with many exciting surprises!
Sincerely,
Danielle Liccardo-Massood, Artistic Director
